Nuhouse Furniture

Our client, a designer of high-end furniture, contacted us hoping to have a website built in time for the opening of the immensely important designer showcase, CASACOR Miami, where he was exhibiting.

With the show opening very soon, it wasn’t possible to design and develop a full website prior to the event.

Not wanting to disappoint our client, we worked hard to find a solution to his pressing needs. We proposed a custom, two-page mini site that would display many of his important pieces, and show some unique details that are the hallmark of his designs.

The mini site, which could be ready in time for the designer showcase, achieved our client’s two main website goals:

  • Have a visually engaging online location where our client could direct interested buyers
  • Have a way to generate sales leads by capturing web visitors’ contact information

Being a designer, our client was very hands-on when it came to the aesthetics and overall feel of his new mini site. He was clear that he wanted a clean, airy, minimalist design, and it was important that site elements not compete with the product photography.

For the site’s color palette, we chose from the muted natural tones found in his furniture. We gave the site abundant white space and chose a light sans serif font for the text. The resulting feel is contemporary, urban and sophisticated.

This site’s layout is a departure from the usual best practices; there’s no logo at the top of the home page or any introductory text to distract the web user. Instead, large high-quality photos take center stage.

The huge slideshow at the top of the page, the first content web visitors experience, stretches from edge to edge on both large displays and handheld devices, immersing the visitor in the imagery. Going against the grain of typical home page layout, the company’s logo and text appear further down the page so as not to interfere with the visuals at the top.

Although it’s small, this elegant two-page mini site packs a punch with special features including a block grid of detail photos, Pinterest Pin-it buttons, catalog download link and user-friendly contact form.
